Preparation is essential for an even tan. We recommend using Ohh My Glo Exfoliating Mitt 24-48 hours before tanning to remove any dead skin cells and create a smooth base. Also, shave or wax during this period, as doing it right before tanning can lead to irritation or unevenness. Ensure your skin is free from deodorant, perfume, or body oils before application for the best results.

It’s best to shave or wax 24 hours or more before the tan. If you shave or wax just before the tan, your pores will still be open and this can cause the tan to stick in the pores causing brown dots (it took me years to figure this out! If you have to shave or wax within that time frame, the best thing to do is use cold water over you to close the pores up. 

You can shave after getting a spra tan or using self-tan but it may remove a tiny layer of the tan off, so just bear that in mind.

This is one of the most common questions. Definitely do your nails before the tan. It won’t ruin your nails, the bronzer of the tan will wipe away on clothes or by using a tissue. 

The tan will not ruin your manicure/ pedicure/ nail polish/ sns/ shellac etc. You can simply wipe away the tan from your nails.

If you remove all the dead skin from your body and find the right tan that suits your undertone, you will avoid that awful orange tinge that no-one wants.

Ensure you have no make-up, moisturiser, deodorant or perfume on before you tan.

The development time is flexible based on your desired result

Medium/ Dark Tans:

• 1 hour for a light tan,
• 2 hours for a medium glow
• 3+ hours for the deepest colour. Keep the tan on for 8 hours or sleep in it. The tan will not over process.

Ultra Dark Tans:

• 1 hour for a light tan,
• 2 hours for a medium glow
• 3+ hours for the deepest colour. The longer you leave it, the darker the tan will get.

Small imperfections can often be fixed with the ohh my glo blending brush to blend out any imperfections.

Your tan can last up to a week or two with good care. To make it last longer, keep your skin moisturised daily, Avoid long, hot showers, as they can cause the tan to fade faster, and gently pat dry after each shower.

Avoid applying moisturiser as it may stop the tan from developing fully.

Ohh My Glo products are made with a bronzer that provides an instant tan colour when applied, making it easy to see where you’ve applied the product. This bronzer is a guide colour so you can see what you are doing and washes off during your first rinse. When you shower for the first time after applying, it’s normal to see the bronzer wash away. It doesn’t mean your tan is disappearing!

The magic of self-tanning is that the DHA begins working right away, but it takes time to fully develop. Your Ohh My Glo tan will start showing results within a few hours, and it continues to deepen over the next 24 hours. So, even after you’ve rinsed off the bronzer, your tan is still developing underneath. That’s why we recommend waiting a full day before using soap or applying moisturiser to allow the colour to reach its peak.
